Okay okay okay, soooooooo I went to Katsu-Con in Maryland with a group of friends over the weekend. I didn't have a cosplay, but luckily one of my friends had a spare Ash Ketchum cosplay, so he let me wear that! There are a lot of pictures of me and other pokemon-related cosplayers, but of course my highlights were getting to meet Steve Blum and winning a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2!
I got Steve Blum to sign my copy of the Cowboy Bebop Movie, and grabbed a picture with him as he was leaving. He's probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet, the line to go meet him was cut off and lots of people were disappointed, but he stayed behind to do last minute autographs and pictures, despite his agent urging him to stop because he was going to be late for a meeting.
ME AND BLUM
HIS AUTOGRAPH
So later that niiiiight, me and my friend went on over to the game room to unwind for a bit after a day of walking and waiting in lines. When we got there, we heard an announcement for a Sonic the Fighters tournament in 15 minutes, on an actual arcade cabinet no less! We both ran over to sign up because sure, why not, maybe one of us will win the mystery prize. It was me and about 11 other people, and I actually managed to come in first place! That's when they revealed the prize was a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2, I was pretty excited! Second place got a copy of NBA Jam and Ecco the Dolphin, so that's pretty cool too. The tournament itself was a lot of fun, and the guys I went up against were pretty good, or as good as one can be at Sonic the Fighters, anyway. I do have to admit though, a lot of the matches got pretty intense.
All of us posing in front of the arcade cabinet (I'm Ash and my friend is Yoyo from Jet Set Radio)
Shots of me playing
Me accepting my glorious first place prize
Other than that I guess it was typical convention stuff. Walking around, taking pictures, going to panels, spending all of your money on things. still lots of fun though, I loved every minute of it!
More pics of me as Ash
That last picture was so funny, I was at the top of an escalator coming down from the third floor, and the Team Rocket Grunt was all the way down on the first floor. We saw each other, locked eyes, and pointed at each other as I slowly made my way down.
Me and my friends in a group shot (Don't know why this one came out so bad, I think it was the lighting)
Last but not least, pictures of STUFF!
Oh and over the course of the con, I actually managed to complete every single puzzle in Puzzle Swap on my 3DS, aaaaa
