Personally from what I think:
Diificulty:
1) Roarmulus 2) Vanny 3) Jelly 4) Snarby

Snarbo is pretty easy. T1 and all. The trick is getting him by the bell. I don't recall ever dying there and the levels beforehand are easy for the most part.
Jelly King gets my vote as the hardest. I've never tried soloing the place but it does seem like he's been nerfed a little (but they compensated with the new jelly turrets shooting the little cubes and a spike). Perhaps it's because I'm a melee character but me NOT dropping to below half health has never happened. The levels beforehand are hit or miss. On a good day we'll never get hit and on a bad one we might just wipe.
Roarmulus to me is pretty easy now. Easily able to solo it but the boss does have some luck involved which simply turns into the fight being easy and ending in under 3 minutes to being easy but lasting 10 minutes. The levels prior to the boss don't phase me anymore but I might hit a missile or two if I'm being careless... can't say the same for the crazed Quicksilvers though.
Vana.... after beating him at least 11 times, he no longer bothers me. It's a long, long trek but unless you get careless. There isn't too much danger unless you're melee for the slags or a gunner for Vana, like me.

Let's see.... WAYS TO MAKE SOME DOSH HEMOG IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST MONEY. ECONOMICS AND STUDYING IS REQUIRED FOR CONTINUED USE. BLAH BLAH BLAH - The shard trade. Slow going but pretty reliable. Don't expect to make much.
As of now, the prices are are as follows (they've been pretty stable for the past few weeks but this isn't carved in stone) Type -- What I'd sell them for Light - 8.5-9 ea Dark - 29 Red - 40-45 Blue - 50-60 Green - 80+ Feel free to adjust the prices as you see fit. These are just the current trends.
- Brimstone. Easy to obtain from your friendly local underworld derps. Sells for 38-45 each.
- Beast scales, monster bones, driftwood, redwood, bushy tails. CHECK THE PRICES FIRST but they are worth quite a bit.
- Lockboxes. Grab one for ~2k (or the wheel if you're lucky, unlike me) and resell for whatever the going price is, usually 2.8-3.2k
EDIT: DISREGARD THE PRICES I AM USING, THE MARKET IS FLOODED BUT THE CONCEPT STILL REMAINS THE SAME. Get them via the wheel or buy (very) low and sell for more.
- Basil runs. There are people who still don't bother with the missions or want stuff ahead of time. I've had luck with the Freezing atomizer rec but that's just me. Also the recs for the Pulsar/Catalyzer (non-normal damage lines). The Snarbo items are also good picks. AVOID QUICKSILVER STUFF.
- The very very lucrative and VERY risky UV crafting trade. People wasting thousands upon thousands of crowns and CE on crafting or the UV fellow in hopes of a good UV so they can sell the item for an arm and a leg. I don't recommend it but I have no luck at anything.
- The [kinda] risky Energy market. This one requires a very interesting scenario but it happens: The listed market price for buying energy is much less than selling it. They take 2% off per sale if you do it manually, if you sell 100ce for 8500cr, you'd get 8330. If the going offers for energy are around 8200, it's a decent way to make a bit of change. Just watch the prices so you don't end up losing. Only do this if you have no life... like me. Note: The energy market is FUBAR atm so don't expect this to work, but it's worth looking at should some lame ass thing come along to lower prices again.
- Missions: while they won't pay for CE, they do make you more money than a typical run through the gates and levels.
- Tokens: Cash in all those useless primal/grim/forge spark tokens on some in-demand items. I suppose you could vendor the boss items if you have no use for them and it isn't worth unbinding them to sell otherwise.
- When all else fails: Go on a run with a full tank of ME and get some money/items that way.
TL;DR: Buy low, sell high, and do runs with ME, not CE. /Hemog's borderline OCD autism

Clearly you haven't been to Candlestick Keep. Never again. I meant like Vanny or something but I doubt they could annoy more than this

So what if we worked on our piercing swords and then tried that demonic SL again? At least the Skelly Turrets aren't strong against piercing but I'd bring my AP.

Vana is, by no means, an easy boss, especially all the planning you have to do to actually beat him.
Crowd control, lava control, water control... Yeah, brute force just isn't gonna do it with him.

Pfft, unless you're the gunner/tank for Vana, you're getting off easy.
Let's see how you do when you have a 50 foot monster surrounded by fireballs charging at you constantly and there isn't a tank on him. Ice bombs ain't gonna save you.
